Hypophosphatasia (soft bone disease) is a rare inherited metabolic disorder of decreased tissue and defective bone mineralization. This condition disrupts a process called mineralization in which minerals, such as calcium and phosphorus are deposited in developing bones and teeth. Hypophosphatasia weakens and softens bones, causing malformations and higher chances of bone fracture.
As some of you may be aware, Dr. Roger Nettune's grandson, Cannon Sittig, was born with Hypophosphatasia.
SOFT BONES INC.
Last Year Roger Nettune's daughter Debbie established Soft Bones Inc: The U.S. Hypophosphatasia Foundation. The mission of The Soft Bones Foundation is to give families and physicians important information and resources about this rare bone disease, as well as to raise money for more research with hopes of finding a treatment or cure. Part of the foundation's mission is also to raise enough money to fund a fellowship for a young, dynamic doctor or scientist to study under one of the world's leading researchers in this rare disease.
